Why Choose Cold-Applied Roofing?

Cold-applied modified bitumen roofing offers significant advantages over traditional torch-on and hot-applied systems:

Safety Advantages

  • No Open Flame: Cold adhesives eliminate the fire hazards associated with torch-on roofing, making it safer for workers and buildings.
  • No Hot Asphalt: There is no need for dangerous kettles of hot asphalt on the job site.
  • Reduced Fumes: Cold application produces significantly fewer fumes and odours than hot-applied or torch-on methods.
  • Worker Safety: Eliminates the risk of burns and fire-related injuries during installation.

Performance Advantages

  • Flexibility & Durability: Modified bitumen membranes are reinforced with fiberglass or polyester mats for long-lasting performance.
  • Weather Resistance: Excellent resistance to extreme weather, cracks, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Easy Maintenance: Cold-applied systems are straightforward to inspect, maintain, and repair.
  • Versatile Application: Can be used for new installations, reroofing, and recovery over existing roofs.

How Cold-Applied Roofing Works

Cold-applied modified bitumen roofing systems use specially formulated cold adhesives to bond layers of modified bitumen membrane to the roof substrate. The membrane is reinforced with fiberglass or polyester fiber matting to increase durability and strength. Multiple layers can be applied to create a robust, waterproof roofing system that provides long-lasting protection for your commercial building.

This system is ideal for both new roof installations and recovery projects where the existing roof can remain in place, saving on disposal and labour costs while adding an additional layer of protection.
